Nishabd

..is what our society is. . There is a big debate going on over the movie of a 60 year old person falling in love with an 18 year old girl. No I am not going to give you a review of the movie or other facts around it. I just want to comment over the hypocrisy in India. Was watching CNN IBN yesterday and the whole debate over the issue which has been rocking not only music channels but news channels as well.
In an open poll it was asked if Indian society is ready to accept concepts like this, and 95 percent people voted for a big NO.
Society in India has always been double standard. People are ready to do things, almost everything that we condemn about the west is prevalent in India, respected people will have extramarital affairs, people will have affairs with their relatives, cases of family members exploiting their own kids are also not uncommon, even the problems of dowry which are not in the west are rampant here. But people choose to be mum about it all in India. It is like if they ignore and turn a blind eye towards this, these issues will cease to exist. I am not advocating Unspoken Relationships like this nor am I saying that every 60 year old have an affair with 18 year old, all I want to say is that at least be truthful to ourself and accepts the facts about ourself. Or are we so embarrassed and shameful of what lies beneath our holier than tho image that we are not even ready to look and accept it, is self introspection so painful to us??

Vehemently opposing the idea only proves that we do not have a clear conscious.
